THE MEANING OF BAPTISM
Baptism is an event of identification. Going under the water symbolizes the death of Christ. Coming out of the water represents the resurrection of Christ. When we are immersed in the water, it symbolizes the fact that we have died to ourselves and a self-centered life. When we come out of the water, we are symbolizing our new life in Christ!
Romans 6:4, "For we died and were buried with Christ through baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live new lives."
